How To Combat Back Acne Fast

What Causes Back Acne?

Back acne can be in the form of whiteheads, blackheads, pustules and nodules. It is no different than the acne that occurs on the face. However, it can be deeper and more painful as the skin on the back is thicker and the pores therefore deeper. Usually back acne starts to form during puberty when the sebaceous glands are awakened. Back acne is also known as "backne" It occurs on the upper back, upper arms and the buttock area - pretty much anywhere that is not the face.

The combination of excessive oil production coupled with excess skin cell shedding in the follicle is not a good one as this starts the formation of a comedone. Basically, a clogged pore. This clogged pore then becomes the perfect incubator for the P. acnes bacteria which is already present on skin. Bacteria love to breed in areas without oxygen and the clogged pore is the perfect environment for it to proliferate.

The clogged pore will continue to fill with debris and get bigger and bigger until which time it will burst. Matter is spilled into the adjacent areas and white blood cells come rushing in to deal with the infection. At this point the acne is inflamed. The further down the follicle this rupture occurs the worse the acne, leading to nodules and cysts.

This Is Why You Have Back Acne

Acne is indiscriminate and is always caused by the same 3 factors:-

Bacteria on the skin called P. acnes
Too much oil production
Skin cells shedding too fast

These 3 ingredients are the perfect recipe for blocking your hair follicles. Acne is really just a blocked pore.

Now the question is, "Why do some people have back acne and some don't?" Unfortunately the reasons why your pores may clog up are plentiful and it's hard to really know the exact reason/s why. The main ones are listed here below and include but are not limited to:-

Hormones
Foods we eat
Chemicals in our food and environment
Stress
Lack of quality sleep
Lack of hygiene
Sweat (which blocks pores)
Genetics

The only way to eliminate acne is to do 3 things:-

Kill the bacteria on the skin
Reduce oil production
Break down skin cells so they can shed properly

You can do this by modifying your diet to include plenty of chemical free meats, low glycemic index carbohydrates, good omega 3 fats while eliminating dairy products, foods high in saturated fats and overly processed items.

In terms of a topical treatment, use a body wash with salicylic acid. This will destroy the bacteria and get deep into pores to keep them clean and free of debris. Wear loose fitting clothing made out of breathable fabrics such as cotton.

Look for a back acne treatment that comes with a salicylic acid spray for hard to reach areas and use this after a workout or heavy perspiration. You will eliminate back acne and keep it from returning by following these suggestions outlined above.
